Pharmacodynamics: Flunixin Meglumine Injection is a potent cyclooxygenase inhibitor with analgesic, antipyretic, anti-inflammatory, and anti-rheumatic effects. It works by inhibiting the synthesis of peripheral prostaglandins or pain-sensitizing substances, effectively blocking pain impulse conduction and reducing inflammatory responses.
Pharmacokinetics: After a single intramuscular injection in pigs (2.2mg/kg), the plasma elimination half-life is 3-4 hours. Peak concentration (2.94ug/mL) is reached in 0.4 hours, with detectable levels up to 18 hours. Bioavailability is approximately 87%.
⚠️ Adverse Reactions & Precautions:
Local stimulation may occur at the injection site. Long-term high-dose use may lead to gastric ulcers and renal damage. Use with caution in animals with pre-existing peptic ulcers.
1. Avoid simultaneous use with other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) to prevent gastrointestinal toxicity and bleeding.
2. Due to high plasma protein binding, it may interact with or displace other protein-bound drugs, potentially increasing their toxicity.
3. Can be used as an adjuvant treatment for lactating syndrome in sows when combined with antibiotics.
